Order across the entire menu and let everyone pick at everything. The open-fire cooking means there's a theatrical element too, which adds to the atmosphere when you've got a big group with energy.

For something more refined, BASK Restaurant serves fresh fish, wood-fired pizza, and flame-cooked steaks from an open kitchen overlooking the ocean. Bread is baked fresh daily, and the cocktail list is properly thought through. It strikes the right balance between elevated and relaxed. Nobody needs to iron a shirt, but the food is genuinely excellent.

On Gili Trawangan, the restaurant scene offers everything from Indonesian street food to Italian, Mexican, and Japanese. For a big group dinner, look for the beachfront spots on the west side where you can push tables together and order rounds of cocktails while watching the sunset.

Bars and Late Night

Gili Trawangan is where the late nights happen. The bars on Trawangan start buzzing around sunset and don't wind down until well after midnight on busy nights. The main strip has a rotating cast of venues with different party nights, drink deals, and live DJs.

For something with more edge, make the trip to Rosalee on Gili Meno. It's hidden below BASK and operates as a proper cocktail bar with serious craft drinks and an atmosphere that's closer to a Tulum speakeasy than a beach bar. Every drink is treated like a culinary creation, with flame-finished garnishes, unexpected flavour combinations, and bartenders who clearly love what they do. A round of cocktails here is a proper experience, and it's the kind of place where the groom gets a night he'll actually remember (or at least the first half of it).

On Gili Air, the bar scene is more chilled but still has some excellent sunset spots. Think beanbags on the sand, acoustic sets, and cold Bintangs as the stars come out.

Don't try to do everything on day one. The biggest mistake groups make is going too hard on the first night and spending day two horizontal. Pace yourselves. You've got three or four days and three islands. Spread the energy.
