Shark Point
One of the best dive sites in the Gilis. Black and white tip reef sharks cruise along the wall, alongside turtles, moray eels, and schools of trevally.
Cycling the Island
You can cycle the entire island in about an hour. Rent a bike, follow the sandy coastal path, and stop whenever something catches your eye. No traffic lights, no rush.
Freediving Schools
Trawangan has become a global hotspot for freediving. Several top-rated schools offer courses from beginner to instructor level, with warm, calm waters perfect for training.
Nightlife
From reggae bars on the beach to full-moon parties, Trawangan knows how to have a good time. The party scene is concentrated along the east coast main strip.
Insider Tips for Trawangan
The hill on the south of the island gives panoramic views of all three Gilis and Mount Rinjani.
Book diving in advance during peak season (July and August) as spots fill up fast.
The east side is busier with shops and restaurants. The west side is quieter and better for sunsets.
Rent a bicycle for the day rather than hiring a cidomo. It gives you much more freedom.
The ATMs on Trawangan charge high fees. Bring enough cash from Bali or Lombok.
