About Gili Trawangan Turtle Hatchery
The Gili Trawangan Turtle Hatchery is a small conservation project right on the beach, where turtle eggs rescued from vulnerable nesting sites are incubated safely and the hatchlings released into the ocean once they are ready. Visitors can see baby turtles in protected pools at various ages, and during release events (typically at sunset) can participate in gently releasing the hatchlings into the waves. There is no entry fee, but donations directly fund the project's work.
It is an educational and moving experience, especially for families with children.
